Reports To

The Assistant Water Operator will report to the Water Operator and Board of Directors of the Cloverdale Water District.

Job Overview

The Assistant Water Operator will help the Water Operator oversee, operate, and maintain the entire physical plant of the Cloverdale Water District. His/her duty is to assist in keeping the water system functioning so that it can distribute water to the customers efficiently, safely, and without interruption.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Check and monitor the system daily to maintain efficient and safe delivery of water to our customers.

· Manage the application of certain chemicals to the water (chlorine and soda ash) as required.

· Assist the Water Operator in routine maintenance on the system including but not limited to: water meters, pressure reducing valves, pumps, motors, other valves, fire hydrants, distribution lines, and other components of the water system.

· Assist in reading customer meters once per month between the 20th and 25th of the month.

· Aid in responding to customer and system emergencies, such as significant leaks, equipment breakdowns, water test results indicating possible problems with the system in a timely manner.

· Assist in carrying out Cloverdale Water District policies and board directives; for example, installing new services, shutting off customers as directed, informing customers of policies and procedures

· Attend monthly board meetings.

· Other duties or projects as assigned by the Board of Directors.

Qualifications

· High School Graduate with some experience in basic maintenance and repairs. Background or experience with general maintenance and repair tasks helpful.

· Current and valid Oregon Driver’s License and dependable vehicle.

· Exhibit an amiable and cooperative demeanor.

· A desire to work and work well with others

· Physically strong and active to meet the physical demands of the job.
